For Every Action...

...There is an equal and opposite reaction! For instance, lets say you hook a bungee cord (not too securely) to something and then you pull really hard on it. And then, just for fun, lets say it comes loose. David learned tonight that it comes right back at ya!
We are learning so many valuable lessons around here these days! I knew the second this happened because David let out a scream the likes of which I have heard very few of in his life. This boy never admits to pain if he can help it. It hurt so bad I think he may have even let me kiss him if I had tried.

Lessons in Productivity

I felt the need to be productive today so I decided to prime the trim around the front door of the house. It would only take about a half hour and then it would be ready for Kem to finish putting up the new molding. Easy peasy, right? I did the job in about 45 minutes and I was feeling really good about myself for having done it. It was while I was cleaning up that my optimistic mood deteriorated faster than a speeding bullet. I had to set the tray of primer down for ONE second. In that ONE second my dog ran over and stepped in it. Of course I yelled for him to stop which scared him and he ran to hide under the desk...leaving painty paw prints all over the carpet. When I went to get him he ran out and tried to escape to the kitchen...leaving painty paw prints on the wood floor. UGH! I sent the dog outside to wallow while I cleaned up the paint (which came off the wood floor but not the carpet). When I went out to bring Dog Breath in he had a look of fear in his eye and wouldn't come to me. Instead he ran into the swamp. Now he smelled like dead, rotten, decaying swamp and was black from the chin down. He needed a bath anyway so off to the tub we went. Once clean he tore through the house shaking water everywhere as usual. I told Levi to make sure he didn't let Cody outside. Did he obey? NOPE. He let the dog out who proceeded to roll and grind the the freshly loosened dirt from the garden into his soaking wet self. Within a minute he was black from head to toe. In my just slightly agitated state I kicked the front door (instead of kicking my child, of course) and my toe is really not thankful that I did. I was now late to go pick up Child #1 from school so Cody would have to stay outside, unchained of course because I couldn't catch him and his collar was off anyway. When we returned a half hour later the dumb dog was sitting on the front step waiting ever so patiently to be let back inside with this look on his face like nothing ever happened...even though I could tell that he had gone back in the swamp while I was away. Back to the tub for bath number two. Which, it turns out, caused me to get stuck behind the bus on my way to pick up Child #2 from school, so it took me FOREVER to get there. As I sit here writing this up so I can get it off my chest I just heard one of my children yelling to another "WHY DID YOU JUST LET THE DOG OUT?" Are you kidding me? Seriously? My toe hurts like crazy, the wet, twice cleaned already today, dog is outside getting filthy again and I have gotten absolutely NONE of my work done today. Well, I guess the door frame is primed but whoopedy doo. The next time I get the bright idea to work on a little project that needs to be done I am going to curl up on the couch with the child and the dog(whose normally not allowed on the couch) and watch a video instead. That way nothing will get done but at least I won't have worked so darn hard to make the place look worse! Instead I will be well rested and ready to be...dare I say it...productive!

Geometry Tutor

I caught Eric helping David with his Geometry work.

Eric was recently named "Geometry Master" by a teacher at school. He loves math but is really enjoying Geometry. When he saw that David brought home a Geometry paper he took it upon himself to explain it all and help him. It was so sweet. He was so thorough and patient. I have found myself being very frustrated with Eric lately because apparently he acts like an 8 year old boy! Imagine that:) It's nice to know he can speak intelligently. I don't think the word poop came up even once!

Levi's Geocache success

We took Levi geocaching and look what he found!
