Pumpkin Patch

David had his school trip to the pumkin patch this week. I went along and we had lots of fun. We fed goats, went on a hay ride, walked through a corn maze and, of course, picked pumpkins.
Let's just say...whenever you think your own kids are too hyper and don't listen well the best thing to do is chaperone a field trip and be sure the teacher gives you the 2 "cutest" boys in the class. You are sure to think your children are absolutely angelic!

I was so exhausted by these two and one other little "mayhem maker" who was drawn to me like a magnet.

Hello from the Big Apple

Here is a picture with some cityscape behind us. We were looking out at the Statue of Liberty
We did a geocache
We did a lot of this...trying to figure out where in the world we were and how in the world we were going to get somewhere else!
ALAS, M&M World. A three story building full of all things M&M's in Times Square.

Last week

Last Thursday Eric had a Grandparent's Day celebration at school. Grammie Carey came down to visit so that she could go. Can you see how much Eric loves to sing?

Grammie brought pumpkins for the boys to carve. She also bought them a book called the Pumpkin Gospel which explains how carving a pumpkin is like Jesus cleaning out our "yuckies" and letting Him shine through us. We loved it!

Here are the finished pumpkins. Eric carved his ALL by himself!
Grammie also brought me a huge potted mum. The front of our house actually looks festive. For those that know me well...you know this could qualify as a minor miracle.
Thanks Grammie Carey...We had such a good time.

September

Ok, I have not done so well at blogging lately. Here's what you have missed through the month of September

1. We broke down and hired someone to fix our backyard! The boys enjoyed having this parked in our yard.

2. Hurricane Hanna..didn't hit us as hard as predicted. The boys spent much of the day in the rain collecting all of the fallen acorns. Eric said it was so much fun he couldn't wait for another hurricane.

3. David started playing soccer. He loves it. He scored a goal in his very first game!

4. I had strep throat which was awful!

5. Kem and I celebrated our 9th Anniversary! We had a nice day out together without the kids. We tried to go to a nice restaurant for lunch and ended up paying $9 for our meal. At least we had a nice view of the ocean. We also did some geocaching at Ocean city. This one didn't have a cache but you had to submit a picture like this and answer questions from the plaque to prove that you had found it.

6. Levi turned 4 We just had a small party here. This was the cake he insisted on. Grammie came to visit and we had a fun time.

His favorite gift was this lego set from Eric and David. Eric insisted on buying something with his own money. He was so sweet. Look how excited they both are.

It's always great to get some Grammie love!

While Grammie was here went geocaching at a historical park. This one was fun because you needed to answer questions from six informational plaques and use the answers to get the coordinates for the cache. Kem led us there because me and the GPS don't get along very well and then I found the loot. Woohoo!

7. School

  • Eric is enjoying going to school this year and is doing pretty well. He loves all 4 of his teachers. The homework is a different story:(
  • David adores school and is so responsible about getting ready and doing his work. Almost every morning he says "I love school Eric, don't you?"
  • Levi hasn't started preschool yet but we are having fun hangin' out together. We are on the go constantly.

What's missing here?
Confidence...nope

Persistence...nope

Teeth...nope

Training wheels...Yep

Guys, this is my baby. He doesn't even turn four for twelve more days and he is riding a bike. It's just not right.

Eric and David have been riding their bikes the last week or so and we made a huge deal about how good David was at riding. Well, Levi did NOT want to be left out of the "big boy club". He asked us to take off his training wheels so we did today. The very first time Kem was able to let go of him. In ten minutes I was able to go get my camera and take pictures of him...without Kem in the picture!
**if you click on this picture I think it will enlarge and you can see the joy on this boy's face.

There's not much to do but scratch your head and say "Huh, that's amazing!"

First day of school

Ready or not here we come!
Eric chose the same shirt he wore on the first day last year!

Levi is ready even though he doesn't start until October

Cody tried to go too.

David was a bit apprehensive but once he saw there was work to do he got settled right in. He was the first one there this morning.

David got to ride the big yellow bus finally. He loved it!

Then...sadly we had to drop daddy off at the airport. We miss you already Dad!

Last Day of Summer Vacation

We could not have asked for a more beautiful day to celebrate the last day of summer. We chose to pack a picnic lunch after church and head out to a local park/beach/marina on the Nanticoke River.

mmmmm.... seaweed

The sign says "No swimming allowed by order of the health department"

Yummy!

Bye Bye summer...Hello school!
