Quiet Time

I absolutely love quiet time...when it actually happens.

Eric will read to himself or he'll read to David. It doesn't matter to me as long as they are reading. He loves reading about all things related to about Outer Space.
David can't really read yet but he pretends because he wants to read so bad! He looks through a book and says all of the letters he sees or he just guesses at what the words are. For him, the sillier the book the better.

Levi takes a great nap every afternoon...except today because I went in to take a picture of him sleeping and he was still awake! Now he is in his room crying and I am kicking myself for trying to do a blog entry about quiet time. I had to use a pic from a couple of months ago! Often I find him sleeping with a book under his head or somewhere in is bed. How it is comfortable to sleep on a board book I will never know!

Aha! Peace at last...except the big boys are finished reading and are begging for snack.

So much for quiet time!

Internet Safety

For everyone with kids who like to play on the computer you should check out www.opendns.com . It is a free internet filter for your computer and it does an excellent job. We have been using it for a couple of weeks now and we love it. With Eric able to read he would either see web addresses and try them out or he would just make up web addresses and type them in (this is dangerous with the afore mentioned enjoyment of bathroom talk!). We knew we needed to do something to keep them safe so after some searching Kem found Open DNS and we have been pleased. We are encouraging all of our friends to try it out to shield our kids from the junk on the internet!

Dirt

Did I mention that Carey Boys also like dirt? We got 9 truckloads of eastern shore sand/dirt delivered to our backyard last week so we can level the yard. The dirt came with some bees but now that they are dead the boys are free to play. They think they are in heaven and I am glad to have them occupied. Since there are 9 peaks they don't even have to fight over who is the king of the mountain...they each have 3 mountains to claim as their own! What could possibly be more fun?

These boys are "all boy"! They are loud and rambunctious. They eat standing up because sitting for a minute is too hard, they love bathroom humor, love to be naked, love to rough house...and then tattle. They turn on the charm whenever necessary to obtain ice cream (they get this from their dad) or to get away with whatever dastardly plot they have cooked up and are trying to execute(which usually involves obtaining ice cream). They wear me out but I wouldn't trade them for anything!
